What Happened, Mr. Obama?
When Obama was running for President I was positive that I wouldn't vote for him and that the American people would see through his flaky movie star appeal and think of him as a candidate and not a celebrity, but amidst the flash of the cameras and the butt kissing of the media, somehow our country overlooked his obvious political flaws.
Although I was rather saddened by his win in the election, I couldn't hide my excitement about what this new president being in office meant for me. I was going to get all my debt paid off, I'd never have to pay a house payment, I'd never have to get a job, and Obama would even put gas in my car. Seriously though I would at least have hoped he could have helped the economy a bit, or is it too much to ask for to have an upstanding honest politician for once? Unfortunately, he has done the exact opposite.
He lied to the Pope, of all people, saying that he would do everything he could to decrease the abortion rate. Ha, does he mean like funding foreign countries abortions, maybe he meant how he has passed laws to negate the barriers previously set up to restrict abortions, or I'm sure he meant how he is trying to make it legal for a teenage girl to acquire an abortion without her parents knowledge?
He has appointed the most ridiculously crooked people anyone has ever heard of as his cabinet and czars, his treasurer, Martin Nesbitt, has previously bankrupted a company and won't even pay his taxes, His nomination for supreme court justice, Sonia Sotomayor, is obviously racist and can't make a fair judgment to save her life, and the list goes on and on.
His policy regarding the war on terror? Bring the troops home, which is on the same time frame as Bush had for the troops to come home. Since you all hated Bush's policy regarding the war on terror, why haven't we heard a peep from you regarding Obama's policy?
Many people who voted for Obama have since renounced their decision and his approval rating is low and dropping fast. His health care plan is below 50% approval, yet he still seems to be forcing it down America's throat.
He's nearing a year in office, a very short time to have such a low approval rating, and if things keep up the way they're going we only have further to fall. So I have a question to ask.
Are you happy about Obama being president? Are you still happy with the way you voted(whoever you voted for)? Do you think it's going to be a long three and a quarter years?

While I didn't vote for Obama, I had hoped the best anyway. Sadly, the only logical conclusion to make is that he works for Wall Street, and the Central bank--aka--the Federal Reserve--NOT the American public. The appointment of czars and ordaining them with power is flatly unconstitutional, and a disgusting power grab. I could go on--but I'm angry enough. Those people out there who still have a pie in the sky attitutude about him have lost touch with reality or they are out of touch with the meaning of "freedom"
@ShamelesslyRed - Absolutely, I'm floored by the whole czar thing.
I didn't vote this election ( too young) but like you said, I was hoping people would see through his celebritiness and see him as a candidate.
So yeah, I was saddened at the results of the election too.
I'm not happy with him, because it doesn't seem like he can keep his word on anything.
@PrincessYnattirb - Yeah unfortunately that discribes most politicians in general
this is going to be a loooonnnggg 3 years
@Smichy420 - Agreed, if he last that long. He could be impeached
i cannot vote, as i'm not a citizen...
heck, i'm not even in the US...
haha
@maniacsicko - What country are you from? I had no idea.
This seems to be "bash Obama Monday".Oh well lets all pile on.
It is easy to do with all the news out this morning
I was not happy with the outcome of the election, in fact, I was a bit saddened. I tried to keep positive about it, but as we can see it's not working out the way everyone thought it would. I voted McCain ... I really wish he would have won.
I'm very happy with m y vote, since i voted McCain. But i'm not happy with the outcome of the election. Sadly, i'm not surprised by either it, or the condition of our country since.
@Simbathe2nd - ::crosses fingers::
@Simbathe2nd - hmmm, you know what... rather than giving a straight answer, i'll just give you two links to my post that will give you the answer... just in case you really want to know.... The two post: Top 10 Horniest Countries and 10 Things about me.... =)
What happened was that he lied. Plain and simple. I do find it interesting how he was so quick to flaunt it though. Broke his no taxes promise on day fifteen. Broke his transparency promise seventeen times not even three weeks in office with all those lobbyists he nominated...
I had no expectations for him to keep his promises or be the kind of man we need as president. But I had hoped that maybe he'd prove me wrong. Guess not. He's more interested in his own image, power, and money than he is in being a good leader.
Well, at least he is cool and articulate. . . . well at least he is cool.
@maniacsicko - I honestly would have never guessed.
@interstellarmachine - ROFL that made me laugh.
I choose not to have an opinion! I have that luxury!
I was really for Obama during the election, but I'm hearing about a lot of failings lately.
Either way I don't know anything about American politics anyway.
I hope for the best, but am glad I voted for Colbert/Walken
RYC: I'll one day make you into a gamer.
Thanks for the bringing the deficit to over 1 trillion Mr. Obama. That's the change we need
Obama was a US senator and before that president of the harvard law review. He brings plenty of expertise to the table, and EVERY president and presidential candidate is a celebrity. What, nobody knew who McCain was or something?
"Although I was rather saddened by his win in the election, I couldn't

Yes, if a conservative president breaks stuff left and right, doubles the deficit, starts a war for the hell of it etc that's fine, but if obama doesn't make candy grow on trees and give you the power of flight in his first six months he's doing a bad job.
"Seriously though I would at least have hoped he could
have helped the economy a bit, or is it too much to ask for to have an

exact opposite."
Well the fact that we're not living through the great depression 2.0 is a big accomplishment. If you inherit a country engulfed in financial flames, putting out the fire is itself a great accomplishment. Now he's trying to save money by ending the two wars we're in and reducing our healthcare spending, which is approaching 20% of our GDP. With military spending being in excess of 50% of our GDP that leaves little funds to do much of anything.
So far as lying to the pope, that is just nonsense. The pope is not a two year old, he knows that reduce the number of abortions and outlaw abortion are two different things.
His supreme court nominee isn't racist, in order to make her comments racist you have to both take them out of context and remove a few words from them. So far as not being qualified, the bar association said she was perhaps the most qualified supreme court nominee in 70 years. Republicans are bashing her to try to attack obama, if bush had appointed her they would be singing her praises.
"His policy regarding the war on terror? Bring the troops home, which is

Bush STARTED THE FUCKING WAR. Are you really that dense that you don't get the difference between trying to start an unneccessary war and trying to end it? Bush and cheney started the war, claiming it would be a cake walk, nothing would go wrong, the war would pay for itself etc, then it was discovered that cheney was ON TAPE saying years ago that invading iraq would be a disaster, it would lead to a quagmire, the three sects would split off into civil war etc (basically everything that happened). They lied in order to kill people and steal their oil and make money for the corporations they used to work for, they are war profiteers and war criminals and embezzlers.
"Many people who voted for Obama have since renounced their decision and

His approval rating is down like 2 points, it fluctuates around 60 percent, which is more than enough to get him re-elected if an election were held today. The republican party approval rating is about half of what obama's is. So I guess they should just shut up, by your logic.
"Are you happy about Obama being president? Are you still happy with the
way you voted(whoever you voted for)? Do you think it's going to be a
long three and a quarter years?"
Yes. I don't agree with every one of his policies, but he is vastly better than palin/mccain.
Well written Simbs.
@trunthepaige - I was going to recommend your post, and this post... but...well, It seems articles like this are heavy on my subs page today.
Obama being president is neither here nor there, really. He's doing an okay job with what he's got, but there are definitely some gripes I have with him. So far he's pretty lackluster, but I wouldn't say a total failure (give it time though).
I'm sad I voted for him. Should have gone third party, honestly. But I'm glad I voted for him over McCain. I liked McCain, but Palin being close to the presidency scares me, and most of McCain's policies I don't agree with. I agreed with and still agree with Obama's policies more. His way of enacting them (or rather, not enacting them) are what I have a problem with.
@agnophilo - I like this comment (could have done without the swearing, but what you said makes sense).
Good post Simba. I am happy with my vote though not how things turned out in the election. It is going to be a long three and a half years I am thinking.
