  • What I Want To Accomplish

We're only in this life for a hundred years if we're lucky, and unless you believe in reincarnation than we only have one chance to live. Each day is a day you'll never get back, each breath you take is one breath closer to death, and yet many people have no motivation in life.

I'll admit it, I've been tempted and even given in at times, to coasting through life. Life would be so much easier if I could just glide through in peace and spend my time watching movies, playing video games, and mainly seeking fun wherever it can be found, but I have to stop and ask myself what life is really about. What do you want your world and the people around you, to remember you for?

Our focus should not be on meaningless entertainment but on affecting change in the world we live. Ask yourself these questions.

What am I currently doing with my life? What do I want to do with my life? and How do I accomplish that goal?

It's great that you have the attitude you have: we only get to live this life once, therefore it is truly imperative that we make it count for good.  You've likely heard the aphorism, "Only one life, 'twill soon be past; Only what's done for Christ will last."

He said, referring to Judgment Day, that He will say to some, "Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto Me!"  While we cannot earn our way into heaven by our good deeds, we can and must do good for those around us.  The New Testament teaches us that "God has ordained good deeds for us to perform."

I think that you are an effective encourager and I really commend you for this.  We can't wear ourselves out trying to do hundreds of good deeds every day. But we certainly can make sure that we are helping to lift the drooping spirits of at least one other person every day.  If we do this consistently, our life will not have been in vain.

Thank you for an excellent post!

    Hello Simbs ~ good post.

I think about this a lot- how in the heck am I leaving my mark on the world?
When I made the choice to move away for my sophomore year of college, I got to Indy to realize that the things around me (stores in the mall that I love, a mom and pop ice cream shop right around the corner, big city atmosphere in a small campus, ect) were almost like God was (and still is) telling me, "You belong here."
My thoughts are that God will get you to where He thinks you will make the biggest impact in life. He might not do it right away, but He will get you there, and let you know when you are actually at the place he intended you to be.
Don't worry, Simbs. You're doing just fine.

Indeed.  I hope that whenever I'm finally gone I will not be soon forgotten by the people I have touched.

Good timing for a question like this in my life. i desire for myself and all i come across to have fellowship with God and other believers. And this fellowship on our part is to take place while we are being conformed to the image of God through the power of his Christ.

Our goal is being realized daily through  the testimony  we  give concerning Jesus of Nazareth.

amen. very wise post here. thanks for the reminder to put off distractions and focus on God's better purpose for our lives -- to bring Him glory/love and serve others.

Nearly each day God gives us opportunities to serve him in various ways, big and little.  You have wise insight for a young guy your age.
